Ispirato al mondo fantastico e simbolico di Borges, Oltre Narciso costituisce la prima esperienza vocale e teatrale di Fedele.

La rappresentazione è ambientata nella cornice trasfigurata e fantastica di un luogo idoneo a culti arcani di segno positivo. In questo senso la musica sottolinea suggestivamente un concetto chiave per la lettura di tutta l'opera: la razionalità umana che sovrappone i propri modelli di pensiero alla natura, per circoscriverla, comprenderla e oltrepassarne i limiti. Quest'ultima attitudine si palesa drammaturgicamente nel tentativo compiuto dal protagonista di trasferire nella realtà una creatura generata in sogno.

Il canto e la danza si abbracciano in un unico gesto, nel quale il mito di Narciso diviene metafora della condizione del creatore-pensatore. Non è più l'immagine riflessa di sé l'oggetto del culto bensì la proiezione del proprio Io in una creatura onirica e il tentativo soprannaturale di imporla alla realtà. Non si tratta quindi di narcisismo dell'immagine, ma di narcisismo del pensiero e delle sue iperboli. La rivelazione finale che il protagonista è anch'egli una creatura irreale, sognata da un altro uomo, chiude l'anello di un'esistenza per agganciarne un altro e altri ancora di una catena infinita di illusioni.

Inspired by the fantastic and symbolic world of Borges, Oltre Narciso constitutes Fedele's first vocal and theatrical venture.

The action is set in the transfigured and fantastic frame of a place suited for occult rites of a positive type. And in this sense music effectively underlines a key concept for the interpretation of the whole opera: human rationality that superimposes its own models of thought on nature, in order to circumscribe it, restrain it and overcome its limits. The latter aspect is clearly reflected in dramaturgical terms in the protagonist's attempt to transfer a dream-generated creature into reality.

The singing and dancing embrace in a single gesture, in which the myth of Narcissus becomes a metaphor for the condition of the creator-thinker. It is no longer the reflected image that is the object of the cult but rather the projection of one's own ego onto a dream-creature and the supernatural attempt to impose it on reality. It is not therefore a question of narcissism of the image, but narcissism of the thought and of its hyperboles. The final revelation that the protagonist himself is actually an unreal creature, dreamt up by another man, closes the ring of one existence only to latch on to another and to others still, in an infinite chain of illusions.
